Deborah Charnes’s Biography

For five decades, Deborah Charnes immersed herself in journalism, bilingual (English/Spanish) marketing, and public relations, while maintaining her body/mind/soul routine.
She coached, media-trained, and strategized with VIPs from the CEOs of corporations (e.g., McDonald’s, Delta Air Lines, and Texaco) to actors (e.g., Edward James Olmos), major Latin recording artists (e.g., Obie Bermudez, Jorge Moreno, Alvaro Torres, and Pilar Montenegro), and Spanish-language TV network personalities (e.g., Maria Antonieta Collins and Ana Maria Canseco).
On behalf of the League of United Latin American Citizens, she worked with security, communications, and advance teams for John McCain, Hillary Clinton, President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Dr. Jill Biden, Bernie Sanders, and megastar Jennifer Lopez.
While straddling major league corporate public relations and her healthy living and learning, her constants were lifelong passions of writing, traveling, and imbibing knowledge from her experiences.
Under her byline are contributions to two non-fiction anthologies, and more than 500 articles published on mysa.com, chron.com, thenamastecounsel.com, and many other health/wellness sites. She hosts a weekly mind/body book club on IGTV and FB Live, and produces YouTube channel content in English and Spanish.
Her latest work, “Life Hacks from a Dozen Gurus," is a self-help book pending publication. From the boxing ring to the ashram, 12 gurus reveal proven practices to ease PTSD, depression, anxiety, chronic pain, and lack of self-worth using affordable life hacks that can be done in as little as ten minutes a day.
The practical and adaptable secret weapons are uncovered through the stories, teachings, and testimonies of her mentors that represent a broad tapestry of religions, ethnicities, and countries of origin. Some are real-life swamis dressed in orange robes. Others don lab coats, army fatigues, or boxing gloves. All radiate inner wisdom that echos the original concept of yoga that has gotten waylaid and whitewashed.
