Kodagu, also known as Coorg, nestled in the lush hills of the Western Ghats in Karnataka, is the birthplace of the flowing goddess Cauvery, who irrigates the fields of southern India, a nurturing mother whose flowing grace sustains the whole region. Photo: Deepak Srinivasan For centuries, the forests of Kodagu were protected not by iron gates, but by something far more unyielding: an unspoken faith.

Beyond inclusion: Moving forward a feminist water agenda on International Women’s Day
By Deepa Joshi and Alan Nicol A year after the 2023 UN Water Conference in New York City the growing water crisis is frequently cited as a measure of the climate emergency we’re in. At the same time, there is less noise about the climate emergency as a global gender crisis—which it is fast becoming. Could this be because the sector remains male-dominated, where power, politics and masculinity combine to dominate decision-making environments?
Minding the gender gap in digital innovations in Bangladesh's agri-economy
Covid-19 disruption & adaptation Covid-19 has caused a rupture in migration logistics and exposed inequities in the migration system, yet drivers of movement remain. Government lockdowns and closed borders due to the pandemic curtailed movement for migrants, posing complex problems for migrant hosting and origin countries. There have been significant economic shocks, with a sharp decline in unemployment for migrants and an inability to send money home through remittances to support family.

Statistical features of an electromagnetic Gaussian-Schell model beam propagating through a smoke aerosol environment
Abstract In this paper, we investigate both theoretically and experimentally the statistical properties of an electromagnetic Gaussian–Schell model (EMGSM) beam propagating through polluted atmosphere specifically containing smoke aerosol medium. Experimentally, a glass chamber of 1 m length is constructed to mimic the smoky atmosphere inside the laboratory, in which incense sticks are used for smoke aerosol production inside the chamber in a time-controlled manner.
