Delvin Moody’s Biography

Delvin Moody emerges as a renowned national protagonist, insightful scholar of religion, reflective thinker, and advocate of liberation theology, embodying open-mindedness, unwavering commitment, ambition, selflessness, tenacity, and compassion. His meaningful endeavors, prudent decisions, and inspiring presence have inspired numerous individuals, extending well beyond his local community. Born in Utica, NY, he began his expedition of leadership and service, deeply intertwined with the spiritual values imbibed by the church. This early engagement was pivotal in directing his passion toward public service and intellectual exploration of religion. He received high honors from the University of Rochester. He earned dual Bachelor’s degrees in Religion and Political Science from the University of Rochester, showcasing his meticulous and goal-centric approach.

With sustained determination, he acquired a Master of Arts in Religion from Colgate University, becoming the second African American in the university’s illustrious 150-year history. He continued to broaden his theological perspectives by securing a Master of Sacred Theology from Union Theological Seminary in New York City. Currently, he is engaged in Ph.D. research at Boston University, concentrating on Afrocentric religious traditions in the Americas. His extensive career trajectory is marked by leadership roles in diverse organizations, reflecting his inclusive and versatile thinking. His collaborations with the NAACP and the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee reveal his expansive and integrative political understanding. His dedication to elevating young black voices has been manifested through his leadership as the National Chairman of the National Black Action Committee, Northern Vice President of the New York State Young Democrats, and State Treasurer of the Young Democrats of New York State.
