What was your first job as a journalist?
After my internship with MobileSyrup, I was offered to continue to work for the site but as a paid writer. It was only for a month though.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Nope.
How is social media changing news?
It definitely makes it easier to see news as it's breaking and get on the beat as it's happening.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
While not a fictional journalist, Mike Rezendes played by Mark Ruffalo in 2015's Spotlight is my favourite... watch Spotlight by the way.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Prefer to be pitched stories that actually speak to... can't say crypto currency, Blockchain or NFT pitches have ever motivated me to write.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
I've written for multiple sites but with each job I use wordpress to write my stories and SEO so my work gets the traffic is deserves.
What's your favorite social network?
Twitter, it's where I connect with my community of friends, colleagues and where I look for news. Facebook is a dead platform.
Who do you wish followed you?
Kenny Omega, he's my favourite wrestler.
Why did you become a journalist?
Honestly, to cover video games which was more of a dream less a goal as writing was my worst subject in school.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Probably any Opinion Editorials I wrote, they didn't convey my thoughts very well and my perspective has changed since those early days.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I covered band, The Crown Lands for my college newspaper, I got more out of it coming out like the band's focus on Indigenous issues.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Just start writing about what you like to find your voice before getting into a journalism program, it will help you more than you'd think.
What's your favorite drink?
Flavoured Water.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Playing console games probably which could be argued is still me on a computer as consoles these days are more or less customized PCs.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
IGN, Gamespot, Game Informer and other big game sites.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That I play games all day, I don't even get to play games as much as I want as I'm too busy covering them.
