Opinion: tools for landlords to help low-income tenants
The federal Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program is a powerful tool to help low-income families find apartments they can afford, but the program isn’t reaching its potential because far too few landlords participate in it.
American Housing Act charts bipartisan path forward for housing affordability
Earlier this year, congressional Democrats considered making major investments to promote housing affordability as part of their Build Back Better bill. But the way this legislation was considered — through the inherently partisan “reconciliation” process — ensured it would garner no Republican support. Opinion: Taming inflation requires making housing affordability a national priority
Inflation slowed more than expected in July, the result of a dip in gas and energy prices. But soaring housing costs continue to weigh heavily on family budgets. Rents and home purchase prices are up – and 20% respectively – from last year. Beijing’s actions are part of a coercive pattern of tactics designed to enforce its claims to sovereignty over most of the South and East China Seas.
Here are 4 steps Ben Carson should take as HUD secretary
Past leaders of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development often embraced one or two “signature” issues to define their stewardship of the agency. Jack Kemp championed tenant management of federally assisted housing. Henry Cisneros sought to revitalize public housing through initiatives like Hope VI.
