Devandran Karunakaran

Devandran Karunakaran was born and raised in Singapore, a country with one of the world's busiest and largest ports. His early legal practice focused on representing clients in ship finance arrangements and assisting offshore and renewable energy enterprises due to the context of a bustling metropolitan society built on the economics of expeditious import and export. In 2015, Devandran reunited with his future wife Cornelia, who was based in Germany and had been seconded to Singapore. Hailing from Halle, Germany - the city has now become a second home for Devandran. Cooking is a passion he inherited from his mother, aunts and grandmother, who are phenomenal cooks, and he hopes to continue preparing the same dishes but with healthier alternatives. They actively practice sustainable living, intending to leave behind a better world for their daughter. As part of that aim, Devandran has committed to doing environmental volunteer work in the coming years and is currently involved in food-security-related volunteering, as no one should go hungry nowadays. Travelling is another interest of Devandran and his family, who have visited Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Switzerland and Australia. They want to instil a love for travelling in their daughter and strive to stay physically fit, which includes eating nutritional food, exercising regularly and utilizing natural resources to keep healthy. Additionally, the family also practice philanthropy as they recognize the good fortune of their own family - making monetary donations towards Ukrainian refugees and volunteering Devandran's time as a trustee for a Hindu temple associated with his family.
