Fooled By Pavlovian Association
Ivan Pavlov is famously known for his experiments with his dog. His idea was that when you give a dog red meat, it salivates. Now, if you pair the food with some other item (e.g., a fork), after a few repetitions, the dog will salivate even when it sees just the fork. The dog’s mind starts associating the physiological stimulus (food) with a neutral stimulus (a fork). The Pavlovian association is equally applicable to the human brain, and we see that in play every day in our life.
