Understanding Accuracy for Computed Tomography
I often hear, “How accurate can this be measured using CT?” For CT accuracy and precision should be considered together. For accuracy versus precision, picture a target. On the upper left the shots are scattered, relative to the lower right, so precision and accuracy are low. The top right shows a “good grouping,” all close to each other but not close to the center. On the lower left all are around the center, some scattered inside the second ring showing high accuracy but low precision.
Industrial CT Raises the Bar for Canyon Bicycles
With more than a billion bicycles thought to be in existence (more than double the number of automobiles), it’s safe to say that a lot of people enjoy cycling. People across the world are ditching their high-tech cars and trains in favor of this centuries-old method of transportation. In truth, though, there’s a lot more to it than just getting from one place to another. Cycling has become a booming competitive sport, an adventure-seekers transport and one of the best ways to burn calories.
Selling your medtech business; when do you start planning?
PHOTO COURTESY OF YXLON INT'L More stringent policies on emissions are rapidly being adopted by many countries with projections of a complete ban on automotive internal combustion engines (ICEs) in the Netherlands by 2025 and India by 2030. Automotive manufacturers are accelerating production of electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) to keep up with this demand. Market forecasts for EVs and PHEVs point toward a promisingly high annual growth rate.
Industrial CT scanning supports electric vehicles
Today's Medical Developments Inspection Target Guide Features - Inspection Target Guide Complex castings made from more-expensive materials in electric vehicles will generate more demand for non-destructive testing that can measure interior structures.
In brief…
Ensuring accuracy by force measurement and material testing is a necessary requirement in every industry. Consider the force required to tap a smartphone screen or push buttons on a remote control; most of us do these things without thinking, but even for everyday devices, force measurement must be considered. Historically, force measurement tests were calculated by using a series of mathematical equations – Newton’s first, second, and third law.
Computed Tomography Scans: The Latest Tool for Industrial Quality Evaluation
Computed tomography (CT) uses irradiation to produce 3D internal and external representations of scanned objects. The beginnings of CT scanning technology date back to the early 1970s. Although it was originally developed for medical imaging, CT is now used in a wide array of industrial applications including flaw detection, failure analysis, metrology, assembly analysis and reverse engineering.
What the Difference Between CT and CMM?
Computed tomography (CT) for non-destructive testing (NDT) has become quite common and is an affordable method for companies of all sizes, including higher educational facilities and R&D laboratories. In many cases, CT represents an upgrade from x-ray film and digital radioscopy. Most likely, those with x-ray experience—whose systems do not already include CT—are considering upgrading their existing system to CT.
CT Inspection: An Inside Look at CT-Based Nondestructive Testing
What is computed tomography (CT) scanning?A leading technology in the medical field since the 1970s, CT scanning is now taking its rightful place as a powerful observational tool in the industrial realm. A CT scan is a three-dimensional density map of any object that can be penetrated by the beam. The CT scan is generated from 2D projection images of the part onto a digital detector array (DDA), or from single rows of CT slices from a linear diode array (LDA).
