Cloud Effect Acrylic Pour Painting (Plus, A Super Cheap Alternative To Floater Frames For Canvases)
Projects haven’t been going well around here lately, so I needed to take a break and just do something fun and artistic. So I tried out an acrylic pour technique that I’ve seen others do lately called the “cloud effect”. As the name would suggest, it’s an effect caused by adding a certain paint (Decoart Americana Satin Enamel) to the white paint, and it creates these billowy clouds of white paint. And while I was at it, I also added a frame to my canvas. I love the look of framed artwork.
DIY Coasters (Or Tiny Artwork) Using Ceramic Tiles, Alcohol Ink, and Resin
This past weekend was all about easy and fun projects. This is the first of three that I’ll share with y’all this week — DIY coasters made from ceramic tiles, alcohol ink and resin. I had approximately 1,000 other things that I probably should have been working on this week, but as y’all know by now, I’ve been having issues with my eyes.
Entryway Artwork - Fluid Acrylic Abstract Triptych
For a long time now, I’ve envisioned some big, bold, and very colorful abstract artwork for the entryway. I know abstract artwork isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I absolutely love it. Well, some of it. So I decided to revisit the idea of acrylic fluid artwork, which is where you use very thinned liquid acrylic paints and pour them onto the canvas in various designs, and then use various methods to marble the colors together.
DIY: Make Impressionist Artwork With Fabric Dye
This weekend, I set out to do a project using fabric dye, but I have a confession. What I ended up with was nothing like what I had intended to make. But it all turned out okay! Because I’m really happy with this “impressionist artwork” that now hangs on the wall in my office. I set out to make throw pillows for my breakfast area banquette.
DIY Shadow Box Frame- Addicted 2 Decorating®
A few days ago, I shared with y’all that I wanted to frame a series of nine resin petries to hang on the bathroom wall during its current colorful makeover. First I want to show you how I made the simple DIY shadow box frames that I made for the petries, because you can use this idea to frame all kinds of two-dimensional and three-dimensional items. And then I’ll show you why I don’t think they work well on the bathroom wall. These are the resin petries I wanted to frame.
How To Make Resin Petries [Video]
I’m back today with more resin petries (my best yet!), as well as a video showing how to make them. These resin petries are fun and easy to make, and while I hate having to wait hours and hours for them to dry, taking them out of the molds is like unwrapping a present. You never know what you’re going to find. Here’s the video tutorial… (Having trouble viewing that? You can click here to watch on YouTube.) I just love these little resin petries.
In The Studio: Layered Resin Landscape and Resin Petri Dishes
Well, as most of you probably predicted, I’ve become a tiny bit obsessed with resin. My first experience was pretty basic — covering my pixel art with four coats of resin. (You can see that here.) I wanted to just get the feel of the product before branching of with more artistic resin endeavors. But now that I’ve got the feel for it, I’m hooked. I mean, the possibilities with resin are endless, and I want to do ALL of them. I use ArtResin, which you can find here.
