Rab Noakes & Brooks Williams. Should We Tell Him - Songs By Don Everly
It’s poignant that Rab Noakes’ last album release is a tribute to one half of The Everlys, the brother Don. Noakes made no secret of his love for The Everlys. They were the first concert he attended when he moved to Glasgow from his native Fife back in 1963 and when asked to pick a favourite vinyl disc to play and discuss when at Perth’s Southern Fried Festival a few years ago, he chose one of their albums to enthuse about.
New Album Release from Rab Noakes & Brooks Williams
The plan to record SHOULD WE TELL HIM was hatched long before Rab Noakes & Brooks Williams actually got into the studio. Five years, to be exact. But for Rab Noakes it had been on his radar for many more years than that. Although Brooks Williams knew of Rab’s music since his teenage years, he famously included one Rab song in every gig he did in the first five years of his professional career, the two didn’t actually meet until Brooks invited him to sing on his album LUCKY STAR in Glasgow.

In Memoriam
Another great one gone with the passing of David Crosby last week. Let’s celebrate his legacy with a classic performance of his “Almost Cut My Hair” with CSNY back in 1974 and “Wooden Ships” from his appearance with Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit at the 2018 Newport Folk Festival. Christine McVie, who passed away last week, was the quiet force behind Fleetwood Mac. McVie wrote or co-wrote many of the band’s most memorable hits.

Rock pioneer, Don Everly, dead at 84
He was half of one of rock music’s most influential harmony groups. Don Everly, has died at his home in Nashville at the age of 84. A cause of death has not been given. With brother Phil, who died in 2014, the Everly Brothers began their musical journey through the annals of rock ‘n roll in 1957 with “Bye Bye Love”. It had been rejected by 30 other acts before they recorded it themselves.
Who Sang 'Brother Jukebox' Better: Mark Chesnutt or Keith Whitley?
Paul Craft, the Memphis-born songwriter behind Ray Stevens' novelty hit "It's Me Again, Margaret," also wrote a No. 1 for Mark Chesnutt, "Brother Jukebox." The song dates back to the '70s, when Don Everly of the Everly Brothers first recorded it for his 1976 solo album, styled as Brother Juke-Box. Despite anchoring a solid collection of country-rock tunes, Everly's honky-tonk throwback barely cracked the Billboard Hot Country Country songs' Top 100.
