Voters can complete the property tax cutting job in November | OPINION
Colorado’s soaring property taxes dominated discussions during this year’s legislative session. We worked hard and made significant progress on this issue, and voters can complete the job in November by cutting and capping property taxes statewide. As I met with residents in Monument and around my district, I have continually heard about the effect of unsustainable property tax increases that have reached 30% or higher.
RV Electrical Systems 101
RV electrical systems can be confusing to explain to potential users, and rightly so! Learning how all the components go together to make RV life more enjoyable can be complicated. To break it down, the most important thing to know is that there are two different types of RV electrical power systems: AC power (used in residential housing) DC power (used in cars/trucks) Understanding the difference between AC and DC power can be difficult.
Retracement Surveyor Beware
The recent article in the July/August issue of American Surveyor on the Benson Syndicate, taken from Wikipedia, was of genuine interest, since these days little is written about fraudulent surveys. The Benson Syndicate is probably the best known of organized criminal activity since it comprised one of the largest land frauds in history, as well as having several articles published on the topic along with a book telling a very detailed story.
Guest Commentary: Don’t give our voice and votes to California. Vote “no” on the National Popular Vote.
Editor’s note: This op-ed ran as a pro-con in The Denver Post on Sunday, Sept. 27. You can find an argument for why voters should vote “yes” on Proposition 113 to tie Colorado’s electoral college votes to the winner of the national popular vote here. Colorado’s nine electoral votes should go to the candidate who wins the most votes in Colorado, not the candidate who wins the most votes in the other 49 states. It’s that simple.
SLO Board of Supervisors should manage the Paso Robles water basin | The Tribune
In its editorial of March 7, The Tribune Editorial Board rebuked the Board of Supervisors for its 3-2 decision to reject a proposal to create a Estrella-El Pomar-Creston Water District in North County, asserting that was a power grab by the county to retain control over North County’s water and, in the process, usurp “local control” by “a group of North County landowners” (their words, not mine).

Bat | Description, Habitat, Diet, Classification, & Facts
Importance to humans Most bats are insectivorous, and they are important to humans primarily for their predation on insects, for pollination, and for seed dispersal. Little is known of the spectrum of insect species consumed, but the sheer quantity is formidable. The Mexican free-tailed bats of Texas have been estimated to consume about 9,100 metric tons (10,000 tons) of insects per year.
