Abstract Genome assembly and structural variation analysis of strawberry varieties are essential for understanding the genetic basis of fruit quality traits, such as fruit texture, organic acid content and aroma. In this study, we employed PacBio HiFi reads and Hi-C sequencing to generate a haplotype-resolved chromosome-level genome assembly of the improved strawberry cultivar ‘Yuexin’, which was selected from the crossing of ‘0362’ (‘Camarosa’ × ‘Akihime’) × ‘Sachinoka’.
INTRODUCTION Fruits are commercially important and of interest to many consumers. They provide health benefits and have unique physiological and biochemical attributes that distinguish them from other plant organs. As fleshy fruits ripen, they become more susceptible to pathogen infection.
Abstract Huyou (Citrus changshanensis) is a significant citrus species that originated in Zhejiang Province, China, where it is also primarily cultivated. It is valued for its distinctive flavor and notable health benefits, owing to its high content of bioactive compounds like naringin and limonin.
1. Introduction Fruits can develop from several different parts of a flower and possess different characteristics. In this review, we shall consider the biochemical, genetic and hormonal mechanisms involved in the ripening of fleshy fruits, which makes them attractive to frugivores (animals that consume raw fruits, succulent fruit-like vegetables, roots, shoots, nuts and seeds).
