Abstract Pelophylax nigromaculatus is an East Asian ranid frog that is commercially cultured in China. We generated a chromosome-level reference assembly using PacBio HiFi, short-read, and Hi-C data. The assembly contains 5.06 Gb of non-gap sequence, of which 4.88 Gb (96.48%) was anchored to 13 chromosome-scale scaffolds. The contig N50 and scaffold N50 are 31.64 Mb and 576.86 Mb, respectively. Genome-mode BUSCO recovered 95.26% of 3,354 vertebrate orthologues.
