What was your first job as a journalist?

Job? As in, was paid to write? As an employee benefits consultant - writing promotional materials for employers.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes. Does that make me "old"? Or just "of a certain age"?

What does it mean to be a journalist?

To me, being a journalist is to take a topic, give it exhaustive research, and (with truth and integrity) share it with a reading audience

Why did you become a journalist?

I love research, and I love writing. I love the power of persuasion in writing.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I was editor of my high school newspaper.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

Actually, two: a piece on Juneteenth, and a piece entitled, "Restoring Housing Hope."

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Just keep writing.

a water beverage called Sparkling Ice

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Reading, or taking a walk.
