How is sexism unknowingly perpetrated in academia?
Sexism can get perpetuated unknowingly in all sorts of was via the law. I suggest studying the book Legalizing Misandry by Katherine Young and Paul Nathanson to see how this can happen. The law also has all sorts of effects on what happens on college campuses and how sexism either gets continued or abated. We know that at present there exist programs for woman to get ahead in academia, because of their gender, but extremely few, if any, in comparison for men.
What post PhD path alternatives are there?
I am a researcher in industry, and I love it. I get to work on important problems and my work is expected to translate into real products in roughly 5-10 years. While working on my PhD, I felt that the academic mindset was overwhelming. I have never had any intention of doing anything but research in industry, but I was certainly in the minority.

In OTTER an input like the following could get used to generate the bracket types of the wffs of length 13 (length is the number of symbols which are not parentheses or predicate symbols), where i(x,y) can get read as "x implies y". It's also possible to test whether or not a formula is a tautology with an input like this: Update: the following works as an input to generate all formulas up to re-lettering of length 7 without subsumption on, which seems useful.
