Frontenac News - Re: Gender
Doug Steele | May 15, 2024 A community begins to split over the topic of gender. Raised on a farm with animals and crops we had a silo. My Dad warned me not to go into the silo after it was filed with ground corn stocks that had settled a bit. The gases were deadly and could kill you. The lesson was hammered home and now I see silos everywhere. The school board is a silo; the municipality is a silo; the native groups; the Christian church and the Muslim as well as the business group etc..
Short Term Rentals
Doug Steele | Jun 14, 2023 In commenting on the Short-Term Rental Story, I send my sympathy to Family Kemp. Sympathy is all they can expect from the Township and the NF News. A Canadian 'sorry'. Frontenac County has set itself up to benefit from Tourism. It spends $18.08 per $100,000 residential assessment (2023). They would be hypocrites to pass bylaws or zoning restrictions to stop short term rentals. This rental phenomenon has a number of causes.
DoD Identifies API Security as Critical for Zero Trust
The opening line of the newly published Department of Defense (DoD) Zero Trust Strategy should be a warning to all: "Our adversaries are in our networks, exfiltrating our data, and exploiting the Department's users." 1 Numerous users and devices across geographic boundaries, various hardware and software supply chains, internal and external facing applications, sophisticated malicious actors, and sensitive data that moves easily as electrons certainly present challenges for cyber defense in...
the eXile - Feature Story

It wasn't the threats or the hassles that finally wore me down--they were there from the start. Anyone starting up a bar or club in mid-90s Moscow had to be prepared for some delicate bargaining with some pretty scary people. The Duck was actually founded by a mixed group of Chechen and Kalmyk businessmen.

ECN Predictions for Technology in 2019
Increasing Tech Industry Verticalization By Daniel Cooley, chief strategy officer, Silicon Labs For decades, leading tech OEMs often designed and manufactured their own integrated circuit (IC) components for use in their system products. The emergence of pure-play foundries, such as TSMC, in the early 1990s enabled the rise of fabless semiconductor suppliers.
The Hungry Duck: the story of the world's most notorious bar
Travel Stories » Russia Posted November 22, 2010 by Doug Steele. Moscow’s Hungry Duck bar was for a few brief years in the late 1990s the planet’s craziest and most infamous bar. The only bar known to have been denounced in a national parliament (over 30 times) and subject to countless police raids, witness to hundreds of brawls and more bare-breasted women than a Hugh Hefner houseparty, there has never been another bar quite like it anywhere.
