Doug began officiating NCAA Division I men’s basketball in 1993, committing himself to the standards required at the highest collegiate level. In 1998, he earned his first assignment to the NCAA Tournament, a reflection of years of dependable performance and professional trust. Over time, his officiating career expanded across major conferences nationwide. He was repeatedly selected for conference tournaments and postseason play, including several Final Four and Championship games. Doug also officiated international games in more than twelve countries, gaining exposure to different styles of play and professional expectations.

Assignments at this level are earned through consistent evaluations and long-term reliability. Doug understood early that success required more than technical knowledge of the rulebook. He trained consistently to maintain the physical conditioning necessary to keep pace with elite athletes. He learned to manage conflict calmly, accept criticism without distraction, and make decisions quickly with limited information. Throughout his career, he benefited from guidance provided by veteran officials who reinforced professionalism, preparation, and accountability.

Doug also shared his experience with aspiring officials. He provided practical insight on preparation, fitness, positioning, and professional conduct. His message was direct and realistic, emphasizing discipline and long-term commitment rather than shortcuts. His goal was not only to help others improve but also to encourage them to take responsibility for officiating at higher levels.

Beyond officiating, Doug built a financial practice focused on clarity and long-term planning. As a Financial Advisor and business owner, he works with individuals, families, and business owners seeking retirement planning, financial strategy, and protection planning. His clients value straightforward explanations and timely service. His work includes retirement planning, life insurance strategies, income protection, accredited-investor alternative investments, financial consulting, and real estate planning and negotiation support.

Doug previously served as Vice President in the Investment and Insurance Division at Heritage First Bank. This role provided experience within a structured financial institution while advising clients on planning and protection strategies. That background gave him a balanced understanding of both institutional finance and independent advisory work.

He holds multiple securities and insurance licenses, as well as the Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) designation. This designation reflects training focused on the financial needs of older adults, including retirement, tax, and estate planning. His work often centers on helping clients maintain stability and independence as circumstances change.

Doug earned both a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. He is also certified in General and Domestic Mediation through the Justice Center of Atlanta. As a mediator, he brings patience and structure to emotionally charged situations, listening carefully and guiding parties toward workable solutions.
