Dr. James J. Blake, an eminent physician from Richmond, Kentucky, has built a notable career in emergency medicine since his birth on February 8, 1967, in Ontario, Canada. His dedication to healthcare, particularly in emergency settings, is rooted in a comprehensive academic background and a series of progressive roles that highlight his leadership and devotion to public service.

Dr. Blake's interest in medicine emerged during his undergraduate years at Ohio University, where he completed a Bachelor of Science between 1985 and 1989. His commitment to helping others was apparent through his involvement in tutoring activities in chemistry and physics and his volunteer work in the Orthopedics department, setting a strong foundation for his future endeavors in medicine.

James’s academic journey continued at the Ohio University School of Osteopathic Medicine until 1991, after which he pursued a Doctor of Medicine at Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. There, he dedicated himself to tutoring minority students in anatomy and physiology, demonstrating his passion for both medicine and education.

Dr. Blake's postgraduate experience was robust. He completed an ENT and general surgery internship at the prestigious Mayo Clinic from 1994 to 1996, which provided him with extensive knowledge and skills in various surgical techniques. He further honed his expertise in emergency medicine during his residency at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident from 1996 to 1999.

His professional journey commenced at Keightly and Parsley P.S.C., where James served as an emergency department physician from 1999 to 2011. His career then progressed at Team Health, where he was part of the Emergency Medicine Department at Kentucky One Hospitals, further establishing himself as a compassionate and adept physician.

Dr. James Blake's leadership skills were particularly notable during his tenure as Medical Director at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital from 2018 to 2020, where he oversaw the ER Trauma unit, the Stroke Unit, and the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program.
