Drew Doscher is a finance professional with over 30 years of experience on Wall Street. He is recognized for his expertise in distressed debt and the credit market. Throughout his career, Drew has worked with some of the industry's leading firms, including Lehman Brothers, UBS, Barclays, and Jefferies. His ability to turn challenges into opportunities has been demonstrated through his work helping smaller companies grow into successful businesses.
Drew grew up in Stuyvesant Town, New York, and initially considered a career in law enforcement. However, after graduating from the College of Holy Cross in 1991, he unexpectedly entered the financial industry. His first job was in the back office of a financial firm, but it didn’t take long for him to transition to the trading floor. Drew started his career at Oppenheimer & Co., where he received mentorship from Jon Bauer, a well-known Wall Street figure who introduced him to the distressed bond and loan markets. In 1995, Drew joined Lehman Brothers, where he worked under Tom Bernard, a respected leader in the industry.
In 2001, Drew took a significant step forward in his career by joining UBS. At UBS, he was tasked with building a global distressed trading business, something the company had not yet done in the U.S. and Europe. Reporting directly to Robert Wolf, Drew succeeded in positioning UBS as a key player in the distressed markets.
Drew’s next move came in 2006 when he joined Barclays, working under Bob Diamond. As a Managing Director, Drew helped develop a global distressed debt business across the U.S. and Europe, further strengthening Barclays’ position in the financial market.
After the financial crisis of 2009, Drew saw an opportunity with Seaport Group, a smaller firm with only 40 employees. He played a significant role in transforming Seaport into Seaport Global, a full-service financial company. He expanded the business into Europe and grew the team to over 100 people. Under his leadership, the firm’s revenue grew from under $25 million to $125 million.
Drew’s success at Seaport caught the attention of Jefferies, who was facing challenges due to a scandal. Drew was brought in to help rebuild the firm’s reputation and operations. He also helped build a credit business from the ground up at BTIG and expanded StoneX into new markets.
Drew has faced significant financial challenges throughout his career, including restructuring companies like Enron, WorldCom, and Lehman Brothers and resolving high-profile scandals such as the Bernard Madoff case. He has also helped guide companies like Owens Corning and Pacific Gas and Electric through bankruptcy and restructuring.
Doscher’s reputation in the industry is built on integrity. Known as the “honest guy in a dishonest business,” he has always prioritized transparency and direct advice for his clients. His leadership, especially during the Barclays-Lehman merger, has maintained trust and motivated teams in difficult situations.
Drew Doscher’s career continues to reflect his expertise, ethical leadership, and contributions to the finance industry and his community.
