Nick DeSimone’s Biography

Dr. Nicholas DeSimone’s professional journey reflects a deep and personal commitment to supporting individuals facing addiction and mental health challenges. His career began in a completely different field—banking—where he experienced notable success. Despite this, he felt increasingly drawn to work that could make a more meaningful difference in people’s lives. That desire eventually led him to leave the financial sector and pursue a new path in counseling and therapy, where he believed he could have a more lasting impact.

His early steps in the behavioral health field were grounded in direct service. For four years, he worked as an addictions counselor, offering guidance and support to people trying to overcome substance use issues. This hands-on experience helped him understand the complexity of addiction and the importance of compassion in treatment. His efforts and leadership were soon recognized, and he was promoted to Director of Substance Abuse Services at a local outpatient center. In that role, he began to envision a treatment environment that went beyond traditional methods and addressed each person’s full range of needs.

In June 2017, that vision took shape with the opening of Lifetime Recovery in Mullica Hill, New Jersey. Nick DeSimone founded the center by focusing on outpatient care and building programs emphasizing holistic treatment approaches. Rather than focus only on addiction symptoms, the center works to address emotional, psychological, and physical needs together, offering each individual a tailored path toward recovery. His goal was to create a space where healing could happen at a deeper level—where clients felt seen, supported, and empowered to make lasting changes.

Recognizing the close relationship between substance use and mental health, he took another important step in April 2021 by launching Renewed Light Mental Health in West Deptford, New Jersey. This second outpatient facility focuses on a range of mental health concerns, including depression, trauma, and anxiety. The care model mirrors that of Lifetime Recovery—rooted in empathy, clinical quality, and a belief in each person’s potential to grow. The goal is to help individuals find stability, rebuild confidence, and live more fully.

Dr. DeSimone’s professional qualifications reflect his dedication to responsible and ethical practice. He has been a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor since 2017 and a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2022. His academic background includes a Bachelor of Science from Rowan University and a Master of Science in Addiction Counseling from Grand Canyon University. In 2021, he earned a PhD in General Psychology, focusing on Performance Psychology, which examines how mental functioning influences personal and professional outcomes.

What makes Dr. DeSimone’s approach unique is how his own recovery experience shapes his work. As someone who has walked the path of addiction and found long-term sobriety—reaching 13 years as of 2025—he understands the emotional weight of the journey. His personal insight allows him to connect with others in an honest and supportive way. He frequently volunteers as a speaker, sharing his story to encourage others facing similar challenges.

In a special segment on Fox 29 News during “Sober September,” he spoke about the broader meaning of sobriety. He described it as abstaining from substances and a chance to reflect, reset, and build healthier habits. He also highlighted the social pressures that can complicate sobriety, especially when drinking is often normalized in everyday settings. His remarks offered thoughtful perspective and practical encouragement to those considering a change.

Dr. Nicholas DeSimone continues supporting people through his treatment centers and community engagement. He leads with experience, professionalism, and a sincere belief in every person’s ability to recover and thrive. His work focuses on expanding access to meaningful care and walking alongside those seeking hope and healing.
