Abstract Visceral leishmaniasis (VL) remains a major public health challenge in Kenya, disproportionately affecting populations with limited access to timely diagnosis and treatment. National case totals mask local heterogeneity in risk and access. Here we estimate sub-national VL incidence, identify its determinants and optimise geographical placement of treatment centres.

Abstract Background Accurate mapping of schistosomiasis (SCH) and soil transmitted helminths (STH) is a prerequisite for effective implementation of the control and elimination interventions. A precision mapping protocol was developed and implemented in the coastal region of Kenya by applying the current World Health Organization (WHO) mapping guide at a much lower administrative level (ward).
