Articles by Dwight D. Stadler
Letter: Our nation is in a sad state
To the Editor: Our nation is truly in a sad state. Amazingly, Democrats, Democratic Socialists, and left-wing activist judges at the city, state, and federal levels commit and perpetuate criminal behavior, yet all seem to be above the law as none have been indicted and prosecuted.
Letter: One person's misrepresentation resulted in falsely portraying the SMCA
To the Editor: The Mitchell Republic’s article “Servicemen’s board gets cold feet on new bathroom facility near cemetery” published in the e-paper on Thursday, July 17, 2025, is clearly a misunderstanding of the public restroom issue. Contrary to the article, the Servicemen’s Memorial Cemetery Association (SMCA) was never involved, nor intended to be involved with constructing or owning a public restroom.
Letter: Praise God for the 2024 election outcome
To the Editor: Finally, a new era of freedom, common sense and normal rational thinking and actions. Ridding ourselves of the oppressive far-left divisive and destructive totalitarian insanity is truly a blessing. Biden’s transition may have been peaceful, but it was still just as corrupt as his presidency. I’m not a lawyer, but I can’t help but wonder.
Letter: We don't need fancy technology with counting votes
To the Editor: This morning, June 19, 2024, I observed an audit of ballots for Precincts 12 and 18. First, I applaud the young people participating in the audit. Their involvement in the electoral and political process is critical. More young people need to get involved and do so objectively, without bias. Unfortunately, I have concerns about the audit process. The County Auditor came across as woefully ill-prepared when providing instructions and guidance on the process.
Letter: Hyperbole over this Noem issue is just political fodder
To the Editor: I do not agree with everything Gov. Kristi Noem does, such as her signing SB 201 into law to enable private sector companies to seize farmland for their profit and risking environmental contamination. However, I find it amazing so many are upset over Noem putting down a dog that was killing livestock and biting humans approximately 20 years ago. How many of those having a snit fit over this issue understand the numerous animals put down every day in kill shelters?
Letter: Opinion column exposed editor's prejudices
To the Editor: Mr. Luke Hagen’s Sept. 19, 2023, opinion piece “Parent advice on vulgar flags and the First Amendment” exposed his own personal prejudices. Defender of the First Amendment? Railing against the vendor and insulting conservatives promotes the First Amendment? Mr. Hagen called the person distributing the flags and other products a “scammer,” even after the police informed him no laws were broken and the person had First Amendment rights to do so.
Letter: Time to get rid of daylight saving time
To the Editor: Daylight saving time is foolish. The ritual of setting all the clocks and watches in the house and your vehicles forward in the spring and back in the fall and thinking you’re making daylight hours longer or shorter is a laborious insanity. The earth’s daily rotation and its orbit around the sun haven't changed, nor do they change. If you compare daylight hours during standard time to daylight hours during daylight saving time, you will find they are exactly the same.
Letter: Conviction without objective evidence in the Frye-Mueller case
To the Editor: How sad for American justice. Was Sen. Julie Frye-Mueller censured based on personal reasons rather than objective evidence? Are her conservative views unwelcome among establishment Republicans? She was essentially convicted as guilty before an investigation was conducted, much less any inquiries. The presumption of innocent until proven guilty was completely ignored. Sen.
Stadler: Outlook not positive as 2023 begins
To the Editor: As we enter into a new year, sadly my outlook is not positive. The Democrat party is overrun with narcissistic, pathological-lying anti-Americans committing a plethora of deceptive, perverse, divisive, corrupt, criminal, and treasonous acts.
LETTER: Do Mitchell citizens really care?
To the Editor: At the Monday, Nov. 14, 2022, school board meeting. Superintendent Dr. Graves gave his report addressing the status of the proposed new high school design and construction bid process. The following morning on KORN radio, he gave another summary of the same.
Letter: Reporting on Mitchell Citizens for Progress meeting was slanted smear tactic
To the Editor: Sam Fosness’ Sept. 23, Mitchell Republic article about the Mitchell Citizens for Progress townhall meeting misrepresented the facts. The article painted both Art Johnston and Paul Dorr as criminals. It failed to mention that Art Johnson gave full disclosure of all his legal battles against oppressive leftist politics, and that Johnston made it clear six (6) times during his hour-long presentation that he was not making an engineering assessment.
Letter: Transporting illegal foreigners to blue cities and states is genius
To the Editor: Transporting illegal foreigners to blue cities and states is genius. What such blue cities and states are experiencing pales in comparison to what US states bordering Mexico are experiencing. The Democrats are crying foul, yet they have no concern whatsoever when the problems they create land on someone else’s doorstep. Democrats declare that protecting our borders is racist.
Letter: Seek objective data on vaccines
To the Editor: Betty Tieszen’s opening line in her Feb. 24, 2022, letter really says it all. “I cannot understand why …” It’s no wonder considering her intense lack of objectivity and unhealthy obsession against Trump and the Republicans. When meaning health care and treatment, one needs to consider objective, scientific/medical data, not politically biased misinformation and disinformation produced and perpetuated by power hungry politicians, political hacks and main-stream media.
Letter: COVID vaccine misinformation
To the Editor: This is in response to Betty Tieszen’s letter that demonstrates how the corrupt rulers of this country use partisan politics to indoctrinate true believers into pushing hate, division and lies in order to divide and conquer all of us, whether we are Republicans, Democrats or independents. Tieszen’s wrongly stated COVID will not go away due to the unvaccinated. I will use as my source Democrat Robert F.
Letter: Look beyond the far-left propaganda spews | The Mitchell Republic
To the Editor: A letter to the editor titled “Pay attention to what Republicans are doing” posted Dec. 31, 2021, is misguided, unsubstantiated opinion. The 2020 election outcome remains intense and divisive. Unquestionably, election fraud and corruption favoring Mr. Biden was discovered and exposed, according to FOX News, Epoch Times and One America News Network. Whether it was sufficient to steal the election remains controversial.
Letter: Mask mandate decision was predetermined | The Mitchell Republic
Letters The Mitchell School District is not a prison, nor a health care institution. It is an American education institution where the focus of teaching English, writing, math, science, and objective non-politicized history and civics should be the mainstay. Written By: Dwight Stadler / Mitchell | 5:00 pm, Sep. 3, 2021 × (Metro Creative) To the Editor: The Mitchell School Board’s mask mandate imposed Monday will have lasting effects.
LETTER: Don’t let South Dakota moral character degrade
To the Editor: Is South Dakota decaying to the same level of cowardly tyranny as California, Oregon, Washington and New York? I am aware of numerous Trump-Pence yard signs that have been stolen and/or vandalized. I also know of some Biden-Harris yard signs stolen as well. I think it is shameful that our society, especially in South Dakota, has degraded to such a low level.
Letter: Don't fall for word games | The Daily Republic
To the Editor: Beware of the shift in terminology for law-abiding citizen control, aka gun control. Anti-Second Amendment advocates are avoiding the term “gun control” and replacing it with softer, less threatening terminology.
LETTER: Keep an eye on Democrats’ falsehoods
To the Editor: A submitted letter in the July 28 edition of The Daily Republic is written like a true liberal blindly following Democrat rhetoric. It makes allegations with no substance. And lies?
LETTER: Verbiage important in violent attacks
By Dwight Stadler Today at 5:27 p.m. To the Editor: Another tragic murder spree committed in Aurora, Illinois; another opportunity for our leftist domestic enemies to exploit the tragedy for abolishing the Second Amendment. But, there's a deeper issue in which even pro-Second Amendment supporters and conservative news commentators have become desensitized. Consider the verbiage used to define and describe these incidents.
LETTER: Politicians aren't serious about border security
By Dwight Stadler Today at 11:00 a.m. To the Editor: If the Department of Justice and all politicians, especially Democrats, were truly serious about border security, they would eliminate the incentives that attract illegals to invade the United States.
LETTER: Council chose to favor one person
The City Council's vote to approve rezoning the property from residential to commercial was contradictory to their very own City Code for the intent and purpose of rezoning. A minimum of 156 acres of commercially zoned property is available for sale and is, as cited in the City Code, " ... most appropriate ... " for Dave Bechen's business. But the desires of one person outweighed the overwhelming opposition of 138 Mitchell citizens.
