Why did you become a journalist?

I want to write stories that will affect people, help them understand.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

Yes, I was editor-in-chief.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

A news group's red-baiting of activists. I wrote it despite knowing that I would receive hate messages for the first time in my career.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Don't allow fear of embarrassment prevent you from asking the right question.

What's your favorite drink?

Coke Zero or Pepsi Max.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

At home, procrastinating.
