Magneto-ionic control of magnetism through voltage-driven carbon transport - Nature Communications
Abstract Control of magnetism through voltage-driven ionic processes (i.e., magneto-ionics) holds potential for next-generation memories and computing. This stems from its non-volatility, flexibility in adjusting the magnitude and speed of magnetic modulation, and energy efficiency. Since magneto-ionics depends on factors like ionic radius and electronegativity, identifying alternative mobile ions is crucial to embrace new phenomena and applications.
Two honored for decades-long commitment at N.C. Mountain State Fair
Longtime contributors to the livestock industry in Western North Carolina were recognized during the opening weekend of the N.C. Mountain State Fair. Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler inducted Marjorie Burton and Mike Corn into the N.C. Mountain State Fair Livestock Hall of Fame for their decades of support to both the fair and local agriculture.
North Carolina honors 63 water treatment plants for exceeding drinking water standards
The North Carolina Division of Water Resources has recognized 63 water treatment plants for exceeding federal and state drinking water standards in 2024. The Public Water Supply Section presented these facilities with the N.C. Area Wide Optimization Program (AWOP) Award, which aims to improve the performance of surface water treatment plants across the state.
