INTRODUCTION One in 10 women (i.e. individuals assigned female at birth) over the age of 50 will experience pelvic organ prolapse (POP) in their life1. The number of North American women suffering from POP is expected to grow by 50% by 2050 owing to increasing life expectancy2. Many of the current cohort of 30-year-old women, who are expected to live, on average, to the age of 78 in the Global North3, will suffer from a pelvic floor disorder for over one-third of their lifetime.
