How is social media changing news?
Faster, better, more democratic; slipshod, pandering, algorithmic control for corps.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Email or DM on Instagram.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
I use everything. Pens, pencils, tablets, laptops, desktops, cameras, earbuds, many apps, OS, Android and Windows (no IOS, haha).
What's your favorite social network?
Too different to compare in this way.
Why did you become a journalist?
I thought I could change the discussion about a particular artist.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
A piece that tracked the link between Orwell's Animal Farm and a little known story by a nineteenth century Russian historian. In Harpers.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Later afternoon.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
"If you don't like this, I'll go over your head."
What's your favorite drink?
Coffee.
