Ed Burmila’s Biography
I am a political scientist (Ph.D. Indiana University, 2009, American Politics and Research Methods) and freelance writer on politics, culture, and media coverage of campaigns and politics.
My blog, ginandtacos.com, has been updated regularly since 2003 and regularly gets 100,000 unique IP visits monthly, reaching 250,000 during elections. Its companion social media account on Facebook has 75,000 followers and has been called "The last good reason to be on Facebook" by me. As a newcomer to Twitter, the account (@gin_and_tacos) is still catching up.
My writing has appeared in The Nation, Washington Post, The Week, Rolling Stone, Deadspin, Jacobin, The Baffler, and other quality publications of taste and discernment. I have published peer-reviewed academic research in Political Research Quarterly, Congress and the Presidency, Social Justice Research, Politics & Policy, Perspectives on Politics, and PS: Political Science and Politics.
