Written as a single sentence, Adam Ouston’s Mine is a novel under the influence
Review: Mine – Adam Ouston (Transit Lounge) There’s no shortage of examples in 20th and 21st century literature. Cormac McCarthy was rightly considered a great stylist, but his style was largely borrowed from William Faulkner (without Faulkner’s baroque punctuation), with elements of Herman Melville and the King James Bible.
Why do so many of us sign up to loyalty programs and then never use them?
Peter Dazeley/Getty Take out your wallet and count the number of loyalty cards you have. Then, add to this number any others you might have sitting on your phone, in digital wallets or membership apps. There’s a good chance you’re a member of at least one loyalty program. You may even find some memberships you don’t remember signing up for. If this is the case, you’re not alone.

Privatised aid failed the people of Gaza. The world should learn not to repeat it
Instead of distributing aid through hundreds of established humanitarian sites, the foundation concentrated distribution at just four heavily secured sites. Three were in a military zone in southern Gaza and one was in central Gaza City. Armed private security contractors helped operate the system.

Retro smartphone accessories are trending, but ‘untethering’ isn’t for everyone
Westend61/Getty Images There’s a gadget doing well in Australian online stores at the moment that retrofits a smartphone into a landline. You plug a coiled, corded handset into the charging port, and the smartphone is suddenly attached to a clunky plastic receiver you hold to your ear, cord dangling, the way phones worked before they became small and mobile enough to fit in a pocket. It costs about A$20, and appears to be a retro novelty accessory.
