Price volatility of staple foods This study demonstrates that the price of staple common bean and maize flour was significantly higher during enforcing the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions compared to just before the lock down, and when the lockdown restrictions were partially eased. Similar findings of increased food prices during enforcing COVID-19 lockdown restrictions were reported in China [42] and some European countries [43].
