What was your first job as a journalist?
I interned as a staff writer at the Orlando LGBTQ publication Watermark in the summer of 2020.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
No, I have not had the honor of doing so, but I would love to try one someday!
What does it mean to be a journalist?
To be a journalist means to be a fierce advocate for the truth, as well as serve the public by informing them with thoughtfulness and care.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
I prefer to be pitched via email and in two to three paragraphs, so that I have sufficient information on the topic at hand.

Why did you become a journalist?
I believe that storytelling is one of the most potent forces in our world and I want to help preserve the truth through the stories I write.

I didn't start pursuing journalism seriously until I was in college.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Because I'm constantly learning myself, I feel like I'm in the same boat as aspiring journalists! Remember: Without accuracy, we are nothing.
