Eating My Way Round The World: Georgian Tables
18Jan Today, I’m returning to my latest series of themed posts. As food has always been one of my favourite subjects, we’re taking a gastronomic trip around the world, looking back on some of the more memorable meals I’ve eaten during my travels. We started by spending Christmas in Jordan, then headed to Russia for a wedding in St Petersburg, before journeying nearly two and a half thousand kilometres south east to Nalchik in Kabardino Balkaria for supper in a cave.

Elizabeth Chats With...Verran Townsend
13Jan © Iris & Thyme www.irisandthyme.co.uk Verran Townsend is an author, a potter and a mountain walker, whom I met via Rowcroft Hospice, Torquay. I had just published Chasing Unicorns, an anthology, written by a group of Swanwickers in memory of our friend, Katy Clarke. Verran was working on his wonderful book, Finding Your Way. We meet from time to time to share our experiences of this strange world of authoring and independent publishing. I am delighted he has agreed to chat with me today.

The Benefits of Writing Conferences
The life of a writer can be a solitary one; and while an active social media platform goes some way towards overcoming feelings of isolation, it’s not the same as meeting people face-to-face. There are lots of ways you can do this, from writing classes and socials, to digital conferences like our #SelfPubCon. If you haven’t registered yet, the next conference is in less than three weeks, hop over here to sign up.
Saying Goodbye To The Garden
16Aug Friday already and at the Hayes Conference Centre, Actual Swanwickers are putting the final touches to their packing, while elsewhere, members of Virtual Swanwick are putting away the garden chairs. But as we all prepare to rejoin the real world, there’s just time for a few final comments. It’s been quite a week for this year’s VS coordinator, Helen Ellwood, who was one of our first interviewees back at the start of the week..
Writerly Round-Up: June 2019
24Jun Here we are, nearing the end of June; and although it only seems like yesterday when we were all stuffing ourselves with chocolates in front of the Christmas tree – no? just me, then – the year is half over.
Readers Reviews Of Latest Legend Press Books
I am delighted to be sharing readers reviews of the latest great Legend Press novels. My thanks to Lucy. The year is 1926, and in London 2 baby girls are born on the same day, hours apart-but also world's apart.....one is born into a family of undertakers and the other into royalty. This story alternates between 2016 and the past.....I'm not a big fan of stories that flit back and forth as it can get confusing, but this story is written so well it isn't confusing at all.
Working Together For Visibility
One of the biggest problems for authors today is that of visibility. The number of books published each year, or even each day, varies depending on whose statistics you read, but in all cases, it has a frightening number of noughts on the end. The question is, how can one author make themselves visible in the crowd? Now there are lots of people claiming to know the answer to this question – and for a small, or in some cases not-so-small, sum, they are willing to share this knowledge.
