What was your first job as a journalist?

General assignment reporter at the Geauga Maple Leaf Newspaper in Ohio

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes: I learned how to type on a manual typewriter, then used one while working as a legal assistant in high school.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

By email, in batches, when possible.

What's your favorite social network?

Instagram (RIP old Twitter)

Why did you become a journalist?

To amplify the voices of marginalized groups, expose injustices, and make health/medical research

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

My high school didn't have a newspaper, but I was co-editor-in-chief of my college newspaper, The Wooster Voice.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

"Meet the People We’re Counting on for a Covid-19 Vaccine," Oct. 1, 2020, Rolling Stone

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

It's a difficult way to make a living.
