Elizabeth Raines’s Biography

My road to becoming a journalist is different than most. At eighteen, I decided to push myself beyond every limit of my comfort zone by leaving the United States to study at one of the most prestigious universities in Spain. I always dreamed of becoming a journalist, and I knew that the experience of living abroad would give me a much broader perspective on the world and the people that shape it.

But after just a few years in the country, life felt too comfortable again. I began to look for new challenges. After enrolling in French courses, I went on exchange through my Spanish university to a partner school in Paris. I spent my fourth and final year on a similar exchange in Belgium.

Throughout the course of my studies I’ve had the opportunity to gain professional experience in radio, web, and television in the different countries I’ve lived in. I’ve learned to write, shoot and edit stories not just in English, but in Spanish and French as well.

I have a passion for storytelling and thrive on producing compelling new pieces. I work to find angles that connect with viewers from a variety of different cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
