Above Oxford: Taking a flight from the Miami airport
Recently, on a photo assignment to cover the Miami University Airport, I had the opportunity to fly in a single engine plane over Oxford and surrounding areas. I spoke with employees of Mac’s Seaplane Service, the company that occupies half of the airport space (CVG airport occupies the other half). Bob, Dylan, Troy, and Julia (president of the Miami University Aviation Club!) were wonderful hosts, showing us around hangars, answering questions, and eventually taking us up in an aircraft.
Oxford’s 59th annual Apple Butter Festival
The 59th annual Apple Butter Festival took place over the weekend of Oct. 5 and 6. The festival was held at the Doty Family homestead. Families and college students alike enjoyed the sunny weather and fun fall activities. The festival featured an array of vendors, traditional apple butter making and live music. The festival is put on by the Oxford Museum Association. This group manages several historic sites in the area, including the DeWitt log home, Black Covered Bridge and Doty homestead.

As a Great American Road Trip virgin myself, I feared the unknown.

PHOTOS: ‘Saturday Art’ students exhibit their work
While most of campus was still sound asleep, the Miami University Art Building buzzed with activity on the morning of Nov. 18. Tables were set with pastries and bagels, coffee was brewed, and the walls of the first floor were covered in artwork. Miami students enrolled in ART 495, commonly referred to as “Saturday Art,” curated a show of their students' artwork from the past semester.
