How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
As a journalist and freelance writer, I appreciate when personalized pitches show a clear understanding of the topics I cover. It is well-crafted and concise, highlighting the most critical aspects of the story and why it's relevant to my audience. It's also helpful when pitches include potential sources or experts who can provide valuable insights into the topic. In addition, I prefer to receive pitches via email rather than phone calls or social media messages, as it allows me to review them at my convenience and respond promptly.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Grammarly, semrush, GoogleDocs, Canva, o-transcript Transcription software
What's your favorite social network?
Twitter. I find it to be a valuable tool for staying up-to-date on breaking news and current events, as well as for networking and connectin

Why did you become a journalist?
I love writing and enlightening people on issues and of course, give them a better knowledge than whats on the "grapevine"
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Yes, I worked as the deputy editor and collated new stories from other writers. I would brush or rewrite some to conform to our housestyle
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I enjoyed writing about the benefits of having a side hustle as a student or worker. The article evokes entrepreneurial drive amongst people.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Read wide and practice writing, because we grow better in consistency.

In the morning, I can respond to it promptly and add it to my to-do list.

I work at a state government media organization, anchoring events and writing press releases and news. I also volunteer at our town club.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?
However, one common misperception is that journalism is an easy job anyone can do. In reality, journalism requires a lot of hard work, dedication, and skill. It involves researching, interviewing, fact-checking, and writing, often under tight deadlines. Journalists must also be able to write in a clear and engaging style that appeals to their audience while remaining objective and unbiased. Another misconception is that journalists are biased or have an agenda. While it's true that some journalists may have personal opinions or biases, it's essential to understand that credible journalists strive to report the facts accurately and without bias. They also adhere to ethical standards and strive to maintain credibility and integrity in their reporting. Overall, the most common misperception about my beat is that journalism is an easy job that involves little more than writing a few sentences and publishing them online or in print. It's a challenging and demanding profession requiring much skill, dedication, and hard work.
