Emdadul Haque’s Biography

Md. Emdadul Haque is a Legal Academic, Independent Human Rights Researcher, and Freelance Contributor based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He is an alumnus of the Diplomacy Training Programme (DTP) on migrant workers rights and safe migration under the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia (MW Bangladesh Modules 1-5, 2015-2016).

Earlier, he served in four private universities including Southeast University for more than a decade (lastly as Assistant Professor of Law). His alma mater is Rajshahi University where he studied LLB (Hons) and LLM and also worked as a student journalist of an English Daily. He received training on diverse issues from the UNHCR, ICRC, ILO, ILI, FMCS, ABA, CARE, SAILS, AsianSIL, UNSW, DU, NUJS, and BRACU. As an Independent Researcher and Freelance Contributor, his has developed a special niche on contemporary human rights issues in South Asia and his articles appear on several newspapers including The Daily Star, The Prothom Alo (English), banglanews24.com (English) and other media outlets.

He has published 12 peer-reviewed papers, around 500 columns, and news articles in several newspapers and also conducted 7 study reports. He is passionate about higher degree research, study, and publication on issues relating in socio-legal, human rights, and justice in South Asia.
