Out the Box: landscape Online—Friday, Nov. 20 at 8 p.m. An audience-eye view of an early Out the Box reading in spring, 2020. — Christina Kroemer When everything seems to be going wrong in a world shifted askew by the weight of our own tears, that’s precisely when we turn to faraway lands to bring us hope: the arts. Of course, it’s 2020, a time when the arts we consume have been strictly confined within a small rectangular screen.

Opinion: Taylor Swift’s new documentary calls for more societal compassion
Miss Americana dispels the myths that surround the biggest pop star of our time while also forcing us to question our own beliefs and practices. Netflix's new Taylor Swift documentary, "Miss Americana," depicts a process of overcoming that has quickly become the default narrative in a growing field of pop-star documentaries.
Opinion: The Hallmark Channel isn’t as feel-good as it seems
The poor representation and cringeworthy messaging have finally ruined the iconic holiday movie venue. Emily Creery, Columnist December 12, 2019 Send email to this address Enter Your Name Add a comment here Verification I love Hallmark movies. Or at least I thought I did. But after hours and days of my life dedicated to these films, I’m beginning to understand the logic behind all of the snarky comments that I once tossed aside as people who simply hated love.
Opinion: With Netflix theatrical releases, the future of cinema lies in our Wi-Fi connections
As more films such as *Marriage Story* share a theatrical release with its streaming service, the role of movie theaters in film is becoming obsolete. Bloomberg Emily Creery, Columnist December 9, 2019 Send email to this address Enter Your Name Add a comment here Verification Instead of going to the theater — which is usually how one of my pieces start — I lounged on the floor of my apartment with teddy bear slippers watching Marriage Story.

Famous, Fictional, & Female Journalists
It is no secret that I love celebrating women. In fact, I could do it all day, every day! In this particular article, however, I want to highlight just a few of the many women who have played the role of a journalist since this is the very field I wish to break into. Sure, these specific women are only fictional characters, but they have been engrained into the world of pop culture and our hearts forever. So, without further ado, here is a sample of some of the most iconic females in journalism.
What It Means To Be A Feminist
Feminism has become an extremely important movement in the world we live in today, but many people still aren't 100% positive as to what it means to be a feminist. We are not rioting and picketing the homes of men. We are not degrading women who choose to stay at home. We are not hating against the act of shaving our legs. We are simply standing together against the instilled social conception that women are supposed to look a certain way, act a certain way and succumb to the patriarchal oppression.
Real Opinions On "Soulmates"
It's the season of love, people! The stores are overstocking their shelves with obnoxious heart candy, giant teddy bears and singing toys that never seem to stop. In addition to this, the Hallmark Channel is running so-bad-they're-good romance movies 24/7 and jewelry commercials seem to be at an all time high. But at the root of it all is romance and companionship . . . and dare I say soulmates?
Movies To Watch This Awards Season
It's my favorite time of the year! The glitz . . . the glam . . . the glory! Through the Golden Globes to the Oscars, the best-of-the-best movies come together to celebrate a brilliant job well done. From a thrilling drama about race in America (Get Out) to a turbulent romance between a strong-willed woman and a dressmaker in the 1950s (Phantom Thread) the competition is very much alive and well this awards season.
Why You're Single And FABULOUS!
Since the world began spinning, being "single" has been seen as the evil stepsister, the sock without a pair and just about every other undesirable concept known to womankind. We're supposed to feel bad or embarrassed to declare our status as "single" because it apparently makes us incomplete? Or that we are to be pitied as we wallow in self-despair? Well, I say f**k them . . . kindly, of course.
How To Make Someone's World A Better Place
In the midst of the holiday season, many of us are in a very selfless, giving mood. But, why can't we be good-hearted all year round? As a passionate supporter of kindness, I wish to share with you a few ways in which we can all make someone's world a little bit brighter. This is a very easy one! I have become much better at doing this, and I can honestly say that I always end up feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.
Movie Characters We Will ALWAYS Be In Love With
As you pause the movie to grab a snack, you look up at the screen . . . his eyes are burning into yours but you dare not look away. With his tousled hair and “come hither” side smirk, your heart flips like there's a gold medal on the line. Glancing down at his chest, you take in an extremely audible gasp. *SWOON* Okay, girl! Here's a tissue for your drool. Now, push that little play button on the remote control and let the poor man put his shirt back on! Does anyone need more popcorn? We are human.
Would You Survive A Haunted House?
As you peruse this morning's paper, you come across an ad for a beautiful, isolated country home being sold at an unbelievably low price. SCORE! It boasts an amazing floor plan, five bedrooms and 3.5 baths. And let's not forget the two gorgeous fireplaces! Do you attend the open house? You are done. You have safely avoided any peril awaiting you, but you'll forever be a basic family and not the proud owner of a totally haunted house.
