The framing is: Everyone on earth takes a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press? BE HONEST.

I'm not familiar enough with Marx to say which of the above ideas are rooted in his writings and which aren't; not every progressive idea can be traced back to Marx's core idea of class struggle and his revolutionary solution. Marx' approach was strictly based on class, even though such classes were poorly defined.
