The first time I was called a larper, I was scrolling Instagram Reels in CoDa. Those of you who know me know that this is not surprising at all; in fact, the more surprising element of this story was that I’d made it out of my dorm to CoDa in the first place. The person who called me a larper was actually someone who was completely justified in their criticism. That’s because the person was me.
“Asking Stanford” is a series of small stories from Stanford students that come together to highlight the diversity of experiences and perspectives on campus. My first high school job wasn’t at an office or a lab, but on the tennis court. This was ironic at the time, because I neither considered myself an experienced tennis player nor a dedicated athlete. But it was alright, because I was an assistant coach at a tennis camp for elementary and middle schoolers.
