Charcoal as a Fire Reconstruction Proxy
We thank Mauquoy et al. (2026) for their letter in response to our paper (Wang et al. 2026). We reiterate that, even taking into account the limitations they highlight, the conclusions of our work remain unchanged. The Twentieth Century rise in biomass burning of tropical peatlands represents the most pronounced increase over the last two millennia (Figure 1). Peaks in reconstructions of biomass burning in the tropics, with the most recent rise (peak 8) showing the highest slope among all peaks.

Unprecedented Burning in Tropical Peatlands During the 20th Century Compared to the Previous Two Millennia
1 Introduction Peatlands are biodiverse ecosystems that play a critical role in regulating the global carbon cycle over millennia (Page et al. 2011), with the most extensive and better-studied peatlands located at high latitudes (Gorham 1991; Yu et al. 2010). Although the understanding of tropical peatlands has advanced in recent decades, including newly described peatlands in the Peruvian Amazon (Householder et al. 2012; Lähteenoja et al. 2012; Draper et al. 2014) and the Congo Basin (Dargie et al.
Crustal structure and evolution model of the Jiao-Liao-Ji belt within the North China Block from receiver function imaging
ORIGINAL RESEARCH article Front. Earth Sci. Sec. Solid Earth Geophysics Abstract The Jiao-Liao-Ji belt is one of three major Paleoproterozoic orogenic belts within the North China Craton, yet its tectonic evolution remains controversial. To address this, we investigated the crustal structure using receiver function analysis of 38 broadband seismic stations from profile NCISP-10, which traverses the Liaodong region in the northeastern North China Craton .

PX xenotime: a new reference material for SIMS oxygen isotopic microanalysis and potential applications† Xenotime is a common accessory mineral found in igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks, as well as hydrothermal ore deposits. Although the U–Th–Pb isotopic compositions of xenotime have been used widely to constrain host rock ages, O isotopic compositions have rarely been exploited.

Investigating the Dynamic Behavior of Gabbro Specimens With Echelon Joints
1 Introduction The slope stability of open-pit mines is a critical issue in the intersection of geotechnical engineering and mining engineering [1]. And it is greatly affected by the geometric structure and mechanical behavior of the geological discontinuity [2]. The locking section, also known as rock bridge, is the part between the discontinuous cracks in the rock slope and plays a key supporting role in the slope stability [3-6].

Chemical analysis of Chang'e-5 lunar soil using LA-ICP-MS in highly diluted fused glass discs † The bulk chemical compositions of extraterrestrial materials can provide critical information on the evolution and magmatism of planetary bodies. However, accurate measurements are challenging because these samples, particularly returned samples, are extremely limited and valuable.
