Trump’s and Rubio’s messy Panamanian divorce from reality
On the Atlantic Side, in Colon province, there are several foreign-port concessions. The one that Republicans scream the most about is the Port of Cristobal, once part of the Canal Zone but in the 1990s granted as a concession to a Hong Kong based company that upgraded it to be a modern container port. THIS port a few miles away encompasses part of the old Canal Zone townsite of Coco Solo and part of the old US military base of Fort Randolph.

Today is The Day of The Martyrs. Show respect on this somber day.
Eight years ago on this day, then-president Juan Carflos Varela led a solemn observance in front of the eternal flame where once stood the flagpole at what was once Balboa High School. For all of their faults, Varela and the people and parties represented in his cabinet were sincere about this. At the time of the disturbances the founder of Varela’s party, Dr. Arnulfo Arias, denigrated the fallen. Several months later Arias suffered his only electoral defeat.

I was never sure if it applied to me. So NOW, if someone was never sure and never dealt with SIACAP, and has died since, does the bank get to keep that money? I have yet to notice any discussion, let alone such numbers, about such stuff.

Do we really want to get accusatory and revisit the questions of which Panamanians called for the 1989 invasion and who, exactly, burned down El Chorrillo at great loss of human life? The invaders’ own video and photographic records tell us that.
