What is already known? Cardiovascular outcomes among insulin pump users presenting with acute coronary syndrome are poorly characterised, particularly in the predominantly open-loop era. What has this study found? Insulin pump users had more severe clinical presentations and higher unadjusted in-hospital mortality than those using multiple daily injections.

The introduction of the glucose managment indicator (GMI) is a great tool for assessing a person’s glycaemic status however values between GMI and HbA1c may be discordant. We have developed a checklist of potential sources of error for both GMI and HbA1c values, with suggested steps to mitigate or reduce sources of discordance. This will lead to a better understanding and management of the discordance between GMI and HbA1c and enable improved treatment decisions which lead to improved outcomes.

Prediabetes and diabetes in a cohort of Qatari women screened for polycystic ovary syndrome
The overall prevalence of PCOS in Qatari women between the ages of 18 and 40 was 12.1% (using NIH criteria) and this was double that expected for a Caucasian population2. Therefore, it might be expected that the prevalence of prediabetes and diabetes in this population would be higher, thereby contributing to the very high prevalence of diabetes in Qatar of 23.3%17.
The prevalence and metabolic characteristics of polycystic ovary syndrome in the Qatari population
The prevalence of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in the Qatari population is unknown and hence the estimated impact on the local population cannot be determined. The purpose of this study was to estimate the prevalence and metabolic features of PCOS among Qatari women. 3,017 Qatari subjects volunteered to be phenotyped and genotyped for the Qatar Biobank from which all women between the ages of 18–40 years were identified (750).
Salivary testosterone measurement in women with and without polycystic ovary syndrome
In this study salT appeared to be at least as good as the FAI in identifying patients with PCOS, and both were better than total serum T alone. However, while no single measure was predictive for all women with PCOS, all were identified by a combination of having either a raised FAI or a raised salT concentration.
