Have you ever used a typewriter?
I actually learned to type on a typewriter, in 7th grade. Man, that was a long time ago.
How is social media changing news?
Social media is making it harder to determine fact from opinion. It is harder to get to the actual credible sources, if there even are any.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
I have always been a fan of Lois Lane.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
Journalists get the facts, organize them into a logical manner, and present them for public consumption.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Send me a paragraph or two letting me know what you have in mind for the project, and I will get back to you with a yay or nay.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Writing is very low overhead. I just use G Suite for everything!
What's your favorite social network?
My favorite social network is Instagram.
Who do you wish followed you?
My mother! She doesn't use social media.
Why did you become a journalist?
I have always liked to write. Even as a child, I would make my own newspapers and distribute them to family members.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Sadly, my high school did not have a newspaper.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Keep pitching. Eventually someone will give you a shot!
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
This is an easy one. I would be in my hammock with a book!
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
My favorite magazine is Departures. I love to travel, and the photos are amazing!
