Cyber risks targeting the next gen
While many organisations mandate online security education for their employees and provide guidance to support their people to work securely, school students and children may not be made aware of the threats they face online. This is especially true when studying from home and using new digital learning tools. In many cases, parents may also be out of their depth.
Alicia and a story of online safety
“This does and can happen to your family - it really can - so you have to prevent it,” she says. Sixteen years since Alicia’s ordeal, the internet has become a staple part of most people’s lives throughout the world. Although this creates many positive opportunities, it has also increased potential threats. Kozakiewicz says the focus on followers and likes for young people can open them up to contact from strangers.
The new commandments for online
At first I’m sure these parenting slogans were simply repeated as the need arose but over time I recall demonstrations - dramatic head turning before crossing the street, Dad covering his face with bright orange zinc, role modelling which clarified the rules applied to parent and child alike.
Attracting cyber talent crucial: Connick

Countless times throughout my career I've been counselled that I need to choose - often by amazing mothers and full-time career women. Am I building my career? Or am I part time - and thereby inherently taking a back seat to better positions to support my husband on his career trajectory? It makes me wonder - am I being unfair, indeed unreasonable, wanting both? My generation grew up with the expectation we could ‘do and have it all’ - but can we?
Women and careers: a story of choice
As in all sectors, we need to approach the issue of diversity differently if we are truly to gain perspective, achieve change and value from "broader skills and different knowledge". But can one be both serious about one’s career and work flexibly? How does this fit in an ‘always-on’ world? I strongly feel the answer is yes – we can, if we are supported (at work and at home) and if we accept the peripheral choices. Because we can have both - but we can't have it all.
