What was your first job as a journalist?
My first job as a journalist was with the St. Joseph News Press.
How is social media changing news?
Social media allows news to be shared amongst the younger generations.
What's your favorite social network?
Instagram is my favorite social network.
Why did you become a journalist?
I've always enjoyed writing. As a journalist I get to cover interesting topics and meet people.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I didn't work for my high school news paper. I did work for my college paper. I covered events around campus.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
"Police trying to break down communication barriers" is a story I'm proud of.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
I wanted to cover an event featuring my favorite poet. The article turned out great and I got to meet Nikki Giovanni.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
At the beach with my camera.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
I enjoy reading Ebony, Essence, Black America Web and Cosmopolitan.
