Much is to be said about Miami and South Beach. It has a reputation for its beaches, rich latin culture, and many others. The aspect that has made the strongest impact recently is quite clearly the sports scene. The Miami Heat and Florida Panthers share the slice of paradise with championship aspirations even as the underdogs. Then an astroid-sized piece of news came in; the arrival of arguably the best footballer of all time.
2023 Back Sports Page NFL Writer's Draft
With the draft looming we decided as a staff to put together our own draft. We allowed our writers to act as the general manager of certain teams and pick who they think is the best fit for their chosen teams. We go through all of the draft picks with a brief analysis included, followed by a graphic made by BSP’s own Sam Cahoy that sums up the draft.
Carolina Panthers: The Road to the New Season
The season wasn’t exactly a glamorous one to speak on for the Panthers. That aside, the team that always seems to fly under the radar has been making moves. A team that was one game from the playoffs by the less-than-par NFC South, has a strong setup which should not underestimated. The moves they have and potentially will make are filling key top to bottom. What moves might those be you may ask?
Free Agency Preview: Carolina Panthers
CAROLINA PANTHERS: FREE AGENCY PREVIEW by Erik Livengood “Whole New World” The Panthers are coming off a changing of the guards to say the least. With the transition of an extreme style of coaching, the front office is left with complex questions. What pieces are we left with, what style would capitalize the personnel we have, and what are the pieces to the proverbial puzzle that would fit best? Carolina is not left without talent by any standards.
Golden State Warriors Mid-Season Report
The Golden State Warriors were celebrating their improbable run to Larry O’Brien Trophy not too long ago. The team has some polishing to do if they want to have puncher’s chance with the most important stretch of the season coming up. This year has been difficult for last years NBA champions, contending with injuries and finding the right chemistry with their newer pieces. The Warriors have more up-side than one would think despite how it may appear on the surface presently.
Carolina Panthers Defensive Report Card
Carolina Panthers Defensive Report Card Erik Livengood DEFENSIVE LINE: A- The ‘skinny’ of it all is that this entire unit played well despite Matt Rhule, but this phase of it shined the brightest. With the leadership of Derrick Brown and Brian “Spiderman” Burns, they hefty group started the first 7 weeks at the upper echelon against the run.
Patrick Mahomes: To the Victor, Remains Humble and Not Spoiled
The Leaders Behind the Leader: Patrick Mahomes There is no doubting, no matter who you cheer for, that Patrick Mahomes is a generational talent, a meticulous student of the game, and has asserted himself as a premiere leader to his team. However, there is a lesser aspect of someone whether Mahomes, or many other leaders in the world of sports, that should have a light cast upon it. This of course is the people who raised and molded these fine individuals.
To Kyrie, Or Not To Kyrie
Many of us make resolutions year after year to lose weight, quit smoking, or even to settle down finding the perfect match. The Brooklyn Nets probably had growing optimism that was manifesting in Kyrie Irving. The NBA champion and feature film actor in Uncle Drew has been performing so efficiently and consistently for the first time in recent memory. Irving had been on track to having his best season on a contract year.
Charlotte Hornets Mid-Season Report
The season took a left turn before it even started, dating back to early in the offseason. Miles Bridges whether you condemn him or not, ‘put a wrench in the gears’ moving forward. Bridges was the leading scorer on the team along with possessing rare athletic talent on both sides of the ball. The Charlotte Hornets have been searching for piece to fill that void without him or at least adjust to the new situation.
Carolina Panthers Offensive Report Card
Carolina Panthers Season Report Card Coaching: D/B+ This is a tricky grade to assess because of the carousel of coaching this year. Matt Rhule was a questionable hire from the start. With no professional experience, he was in over his head with team morale, chemistry and ability to assimilate to the NFL culture. With his indecisiveness on the offensive side of the ball (especially at all skill positions), the unit was almost stagnate and without identity. “Sacking” him was the inevitable choice.
