Interview

What was your first job as a journalist?

At 15, I became a radio reporter and editor in the small Missouri town where I lived. I was hooked.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Nope!

What does it mean to be a journalist?

It means listening--very carefully--instead of speaking.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Email only at Erika.ebsworth.goold@gmail.com

What's your favorite social network?

I love Instagram because it allows me to showcase photos and videos of the spectacular places I've been fortunate to visit.

Why did you become a journalist?

To tell stories, of course.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

Yes; was editor in chief junior year.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Stay humble and curious.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Mornings.

What's your favorite drink?

A zippy New Zealand sauvignon blanc.
