An American In Paris soars during the superb second act numbers

Rating: If you’re tempted to leave during intermission – silly plot, uneven acting/singing, a lack of narrative tension – resist the urge. The second act of the Gershwin musical An American In Paris pays off with a series of numbers, including the titular dance sequence, that are totally worth the price of admission.

Erika Wennerstrom turns a retreat into a new musical path forward
Sometimes, personal growth just requires some time alone and some honest reflection. And possibly an ancient Amazonian hallucinogenic tribal retreat. At least that’s how Erika Wennerstrom found both a new outlook and a new side to her songwriting.Wennerstrom is best known as the force behind the Heartless Bastards, a long-running indie-rock band originally from Cincinnati.
Erika Wennerstrom: 'Extraordinary Love'
Erika Wennerstrom has been the captivating voice behind Heartless Bastards for 15 years and five albums. This March the singer will release her debut solo album, "Sweet Unknown," recorded while the Austin-based band is on a brief hiatus. The song "Extraordinary Love" is our first impression of "Sweet Unknown." It's a seven-minute ode to loving oneself that Wennerstrom wrote during a long stay in West Texas.
