Solar‐Driven Methanogenesis through Microbial Ecosystem Engineering on Carbon Nitride
The production of renewable methane (CH4) through solar-powered CO2 reduction would provide an attractive approach to synthesize green fuel for a net zero economy as its storage, transport, and use are well established from our current handling of grey (fossil) natural gas.1 However, the electrochemical production of CH4 from CO2 requires 8e−/8H+ and is therefore kinetically demanding, with synthetic metal-based or molecular electrocatalysts being inefficient (high overpotential requirement...

Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction Using Homogeneous Carbon Dots with a Molecular Cobalt Catalyst
1 Introduction Photocatalytic valorization of the greenhouse gas CO2 to CO is an appealing proposition to mitigate increasing anthropogenic CO2 emissions.[1, 2] The development of homogeneous and semi-heterogeneous colloidal systems that combine a photosensitizer with a fuel producing co-catalyst and operate in aqueous solution has garnered considerable attraction for the development of promising hybrid photocatalysts.[3-6] However, generally used photosensitizers promoting CO2 reduction have...
Complete Valorisation of Lignocellulose and Low Concentration CO2 using a Fractionation-Photocatalysis-Electrolysis Process
Complete Valorisation of Lignocellulose and Low Concentration CO2 using a Fractionation-Photocatalysis-Electrolysis Process The simultaneous upcycling of all components in lignocellulosic biomass and the greenhouse gas CO¬2 at flue gas concentrations (~20 vol%) presents an attractive opportunity to synthesise sustainable and valuable chemicals.

Comproportionation of CO2 and Cellulose to Formate Using a Floating Semiconductor‐Enzyme Photoreforming Catalyst
Sunlight-driven chemical transformations represent a sustainable route to mitigate waste streams and produce value-added chemicals.1 For example, the greenhouse gas CO2 can be converted to valuable fuels or chemical feedstocks in the presence of a suitable semiconductor.2, 3 The photocatalyst absorbs light to generate photo-excited electrons that perform a reduction reaction such as CO2 conversion to CO or formate (HCOO−).4-6 The holes remaining in the semiconductor regenerate through...
Mechanism-Based Design of Quinoline Potassium Acyltrifluoroborates for Rapid Amide-Forming Ligations at Physiological pH
Potassium acyltrifluoroborates (KATs) undergo chemoselective amide-forming ligations with hydroxylamines. Under aqueous, acidic conditions these ligations can proceed rapidly, with rate constants of ∼20 M–1 s–1. The requirement for lower pH to obtain the fastest rates, however, limits their use with certain biomolecules and precludes in vivo applications.

Lewis Acid Strength of Interfacial Metal Sites Drives CH3OH Selectivity and Formation Rates on Cu‐Based CO2 Hydrogenation Catalysts
Research Article PDF ShareShare Abstract CH3OH formation rates in CO2 hydrogenation on Cu‐based catalysts sensitively depend on the nature of the support and the presence of promoters. In this context, Cu nanoparticles supported on tailored supports (highly dispersed M on SiO2; M=Ti, Zr, Hf, Nb, Ta) were prepared via surface organometallic chemistry, and their catalytic performance was systematically investigated for CO2 hydrogenation to CH3OH.

Understanding Trends in 27Al Chemical Shifts and Quadrupolar Coupling Constants in Chloroalkyl Aluminum [AlClx(Me)3‐x]n=1 or 2 Compounds
The usage of alkyl aluminum compounds and related structures as co‐catalyst finds a broad range of application in homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis. While understanding the nature of the aluminum species in solution or in solids can be a challenge, 27Al solid state NMR is a powerful tool to understand the structure of Al species, but their assignment remains mostly empirical, typically by comparing chemical shifts with known compounds.
Design, Synthesis, and Validation of an Effective, Reusable Silicon-Based Transfer Agent for Room-Temperature Pd-Catalyzed Cross-Coupling Reactions of Aryl and Heteroaryl Chlorides with Readily Available Aryl Lithium Reagents - Journal of the American Che
A reusable silicon-based transfer agent (1) has been designed, synthesized, and validated for effective room-temperature palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions (CCRs) of aryl and heteroaryl chlorides with readily accessible aryl lithium reagents. The crystalline, bench-stable siloxane transfer agent (1) is easily prepared via a one-step protocol.
