USC takes round one of the Crosstown Showdown in front of electric home crowd
This story will be updated with quotes later. No. 1 versus No. 6. The center of women’s college basketball was in the city of angels tonight to see who would take control of the Big Ten. And to top it all off, it was a battle for the city. A city that the Trojans took control of with a 71-60 victory over the UCLA Bruins. In front of a sold-out Galen Center crowd, the Trojans wasted no time feeding off the energy. Graduate guard Talia von Oelhoffen opened up the scoring with a crowd-igniting 3-pointer.
No. 4 USC dominates defensively, rolls past Penn State
Community. That was the theme for the Trojans’ first game back in Los Angeles following their second East Coast trip of the season. A community that has been ravaged by wildfires, but a community of unwavering support nonetheless. “We 100% recognize that sports and athletics are not bigger than those real world things and at the same time, I think what is incredibly important at this time is community,” head coach Lindsay Gottlieb said.
L.A. Storytellers: Sharing indigenous culture through art
Los Angeles County is the ancestral land of the Tongva, Tataviam, Serrano, Kizh and Chumash people. Today, however, the history of Native Americans is often invisible to many Angelenos. This story centers around two artists who share their indigenous heritage through painting, print-making, and photography. Their artworks not only relate their ancestral history but also their experience in living as a Native American in one of America’s largest cities.
USC outlasts Nebraska, 28-20, in homecoming thriller
Needing two wins in their final three games to become bowl eligible, the Trojans got themselves halfway there with a 28-20 victory over the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the teams’ first meeting as Big Ten opponents. All eyes were on redshirt sophomore quarterback Jayden Maiava, making his first start in place of redshirt junior Miller Moss. But in terms of starting strong, Maiava’s couldn’t have been rockier.
No. 3 USC women’s basketball rolls to a home-opening victory over Cal Poly
Days removed from a close win against No. 20 Ole Miss in Paris, the Trojans returned to the Galen Center for the first time this season and dominated Cal Poly 90-35 in front of an energetic crowd that included Chiney Ogwumike, Saweetie and Trojan legend Cheryl Miller. “[We] challenged our players to come out and play with a ton of energy and heart and show these fans what we think we can be this year,” head coach Lindsay Gottlieb said.
No. 10 women’s basketball flexes offense, thump Ducks 88-51
The No. 10 Trojans started the Oregon road trip off strong with a 88-51 victory over the Oregon Ducks on Friday night at Matthew Knight Arena. USC wasted no time proving why they’re a top-10 team in the nation, jumping out to a 15-2 lead before the Ducks called their first timeout. The Trojans continued the impressive shooting to a 29-7 lead after one quarter, punctuated by freshman guard Juju Watkins’ 14 points in the opening frame.
Gabon Now: A Recovering Post-Coup Nation
Gabon is in the midst of significant changes, the likes of which the country has not seen in decades. Now, the Central African country is working to reorganize itself into the democracy its people have wanted for decades. After an Aug. 26 election that saw President Ali Bongo Ondimba reelected, he was overthrown just four days later in a coup led by General Brice Oligui Nguema, Bongo’s own cousin.
USC sneaks past Arizona, 43-41, in triple overtime slugfest
After a month since their last home game, the Trojans welcomed Arizona for the schools’ final Pac-12 matchup. It may not have been the game anyone was expecting, but the headline was one for the books. USC outlasted the Wildcats 43-41 in triple overtime Saturday night in a bizarre Pac-12 After Dark contest. The Wildcats came out of the gates with intensity, forcing the Trojans to punt on all first-quarter possessions while scoring on their first two possessions to jump out to a 10-0 lead.
USC overcomes early mistakes to top Arizona State 42-28
USC hit the road for its final Pac-12 matchup against Arizona State Saturday night, and the Trojan offense set the tone early. Junior quarterback Caleb Williams marched the offense down the field on the game’s opening possession, culminating in a 1-yard rushing touchdown from the 2022 Heisman winner. However, it was the Trojans’ self-inflicted errors that made this season’s road debut a back-and-forth battle.

A recent study estimates the global population will hit a peak of 8.8 billion around the middle of this century, before rapidly declining soon after. Prior studies predicted the “population bomb” to go off later with a higher worldwide population, coupled with more catastrophic results.
